Second opinion: Unfortunately, these procedures are recommended frequently because of the financial return more than the true clinical benefit! See another dentist or two that do not have a financial stake in this issue! I'm very sorry to have to say this, but I've seen too many of my patients taken advantage of for money

Yes 4 the long haul: Invisalign is a technique that uses sequential clear Aligners to move your teeth to the appropriate position. And while you will need a retainer to maintain the corrected position when finished, you will only need it in the evening. The implant and crown that will attach to it will not only assist in holding the space you have, but aid in function and in stabilizing your bite.

Missing molar: Replacing a missing molar is important, because molar is an "anchor" for bite, oral health and stability. Without the molar, you have loss of chewing ability. There is no better, long-lasting option to restoring a missing molar. Coordinate with your orthodontist the retainer phase after the implant restoration. Good luck.

Implant: The implant is the best way to preserve your bite and the bone in the jaw. It is common to use Invisalign to put the teeth in the optimal position and then do an implant once Invisalign has been completed and restore your bite. The implant will not move or relapse but the rest of your teeth may move or shift if you do not wear a retainer. Discuss your treatment with your Invisalign provider.

Yes, get it: Yes the retainer will old the space so long as you continue to wear it. as soon as you stop wearing it every night the space will begin to close. The opposing tooth will begin to shift too trying to fill the space. Besides don't you want the use f that tooth for chewing and for esthetics.

Absolutely: In adults Orthodontic treatment is often aimed at providing the best platform on which to do restorative care. If your occlusion warrants it, the missing tooth should be replaced. As an Orthodontists I've seen too many post-Orthodontic relapses because missing teeth were not replaced and retainers were not worn 24/7 until replacement completed. You will need some part-time retention forever.

Day and night: Without an implant, you would need to indefinitely wear a retainer day and night. The more stable choice would be to consider an implant.

Yes: I assume that during your invisalign treatment the plan is not to close the space and hterefore you are going to get a implant. With that assumption, yes, you still need to replace the tooth and an implant is typically your best choice. Of sourse you should consult with your dentist and orthodontist about the best choice for the tooth replacement.
