Paresthesia: 'Saturday night palsy' describes loss of function of entire distal arm from position/pressure for several hours (from falling asleep after partying Sat pm in that example). If your position is just so that it puts pressure on a nerve, will 'go to sleep' and take several minutes to resolve.
