Thyroid activity: Problems can be either short term and transient, or longer and chronic. Your MD is working through this with you. Keep your follow up appointment and review your concerns.

Depends: If this is your first test and you don't have any symptom of hypothyroidism, I would repeat the test in 6 to 8 weeks. If it remains high, then I would recommend to start treatment.

Talk to doc: Ask your doc for a free T4 and thyroid antibodies. If they are also abnormal, you need treatment. As always, you can also seek second opinions. Good luck.

Depends: on FT4 and possibility of sick thyroid. However if TSH is persistently elevated even with normal FT4, the consensus opinion is to treat

No, you need thyroid: Hi. I'm sure your doctor has great ability in other areas, but watching you with a TSH of 13, while it will not hurt you in the long run, will not alter the fact that you need thyroid hormone. I'm really can't guess what he/she is thinking. Have him/her check TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies. If he/she sees you have Hashimoto's, maybe that will stimulate some action! Good luck!
