Nail abnormalities: Your child's nail abnormalities are more likely related to his NF than to anything else. Nail dysmorphic and color changes are routine findings of neurofibromatosis. That being said, iron status is also an important thing to follow in these kids, as they tend toward anemia and low ferritin levels. Have his Hgb and Hct and serum ferritin checked yearly.
