1% chance is heart: Push on the chest wall, and if the pain is reproducible, it's not a heart problem. Also, if the episode is brief, or the patient can move around and participate in activities, it's not cardiac-related. This could result from muscle strain, pulmonary problems or gastroesophageal reflux, anxiety, but the least likely reason is the heart . At 16 y/o, only 1 percent is of cardiac cause.
