Can you get scabies on your scalp and hair?

Unusual and no: Scabies cannot live on hair because there is no blood supply. Scalp infestation for some reason is very unusual in adults, but much more common in infants and toddlers.

Scabies: Most scabies infections are in areas where you sweat like groin, armpit or between toes but they can infect any part of the body including the scalp. In addition, the scabies usually causes itching. If you don't itch you don't likely have scabies.

Scabies vs. lice: Scabies in adults is often from the neck down. On the scalp and face is more commonly seen in infants and toddlers. If only your head is involved, think head lice.

Scabies: are usually from the neck down and are mites under the skin. In the hair and scalp it is usually head lice.
