Inflammation: Discomfort in that region may be due Inflammation in lymph glands, thyroid, muscle or carotid artery with an early viral throat infection being the most likely and this will run its course in several days without specific treatment. However see your physician if symptoms persist or worsen.

Possible cause: would be a throat/tonsil infection probably viral- your symptoms suggest infectious mononucleosis, but would be impossible to diagnose without an exam and some lab/throat culture tests, See your doctor
