Without it, blood vessels cannot respond to other hormones (such as epinephrine), which results in an abnormally low blood pressure. Many other symptoms can accompany a lack of cortisol (adrenal insufficiency), such as weakness, fatigue, anorexia, nausea, constipation, abdominal pain, and weight loss.
