Once the infection: is cleared up the WBC should decrease. Your body releases more wbc's into the bloodstream to fight the infection, so don't be upset.

Not to worry.: If indeed you have the flu it is not abnormal to have an elevated white count. The white blood cells are made to fight the infection. I didn't see a differential count, the different white cells counted, but I believe the count you mentioned is consistent with a viral infection like the flu. If there is any question one could repeat a CBC in 2 weeks and the WBC should be back or close to normal.
