Colon derived: Group D strep is typically a colon bacteria. It is very different than E. Coli, even though E. Coli is also a colon bacteria. Group D strep does not produce irritating infections or toxin associated infection. E Coli can produce serious painful infection. Group D strep is known also as Strep Bovis. It can produce endocarditis and can be associated with malignancy or diverticular disease.

Enterococci = strepD: Enterococcus fecalis, used 2B called group D strep, like E. coli is a "normal" bowel organism & not infrequently causes urinary infections, primarily in women. No more serious & possibly less than "run of the mill" E. coli and decidedly less harmful pathogenic strains of E. Coli.
