Pain/inflammation: Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug basically used to treat arthritic pain and inflammation. Because of its mechanism of action it is also used to treat unrelated issues that cause pain such as menstrual cramping and headaches.

Pain/Inflammation: Naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication (like Aspirin and ibuprofen). It can be used to relief pain from headaches, injuries, and many other conditions such as menstrual cramps. Its anti-inflammatory properties help with arthritis, tendinitis, and bursitis.
All medications in this class can increase the risk of bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract.

How effective is naproxen?

As good as any: There are at least a dozen antiinflammatory meds on the market. Naproxen is effective but not for everyone. The reason there are so many medications is because not one is uniquely superior to the others. One person will "swear" by Naproxen while another says it "does nothing for me".
