A member asked:

Becoming a psychiatrist, i hear they have the highest rates of suicide for any medical profession. is this true? have you ever felt like doing it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

According to the: literature, anesthesia, psychiatry and community heath workers may have a higher suicide rate; males and females complete the act in in nearly equal ratios for physicians. If you're considering a career in medicine, take care to seek treatment for depression, subst. abuse, burnout, etc., as it is a serious problem for all specialties. Good luck!
