Question: What do you mean when you state that are pushing above the tonsil? Does that mean you are inserting an instrument into your mouth and pressing above the tonsillar tissue. That could be dangerous. Yes, TMD may radiate into the neck and throat. If you actually have tenderness above the tonsil, you need to consult an ENT doctor to make sure you do not have a tonsil or peritonsillar infection.

Either: Could be primarily the tonsil, TMJ or other regional problem. Lots of cross innervation. Get an opinion from an ENT doc ASAP.

It is possible: Tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils and it can be a significant warning sign for TMJ symptoms. See your PCP for consultation, labs and treatment.
