Which is better for severe ra pain and swelling and fibromyalgia, celebrex or cymbalta (duloxetine)? which one has less side effects?

Tough call: Hard to choose honestly.The Celebrex has better antiinflammatory properties than Cymbalta (duloxetine) but long term Cymbalta (duloxetine) may control your pain better.Long term Celebrex use puts you at risk for GI irritation and at worst ulcers and gastric bleeding.Cymbalta (duloxetine) can interfere with your sleep and cause sexual dysfunction,nausea,dizziness,constipation among others,but it's probably better for the pain.

Diff meds : These are two completely diff meds with diff mechanisms of action and totally diff potential side effects . Both can be useful for fibromyalgia (FM). Celebrex is an anti-inflammatory med. More expensive than Aleve but safer on the stomach. It does work well for arthritis pain. Cymbalta (duloxetine) is an anti-depressant but can also help with FM pain.

They can be used: Together. I have many patients on both. Side effects, usually not serious can occur with both. They are relatively safe drugs!
