Need Exercise: Fibromyalgia is a diagnosis of exclusion. The 2010 American College of Rheumatology criteria with presence of tender points, widespread pain index (WPI) ≥7 & symptom severity (SS) scale score ≥5 or WPI 3 - 6 & SS scale score ≥9, presence of symptoms at similar level for at least 3 months. Research have shown that exercise is the only consistent method that improves function and decrease pain.

Consider consult: Sometimes when medications are not effective, consultation with a professional with expertise in the psychophysiologic basis of disease may be useful.
