Yes: In ~ 40% of people with bona fide Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) the RHEUMATOID FACOR (RF) test will never be positive. Non specific tests that measure inflammation (WESR/CRP) may also be normal in early RA. The CCP test, however, is very sensitive in early RA ; ~ 80/90% of the time it will be (+). One of the "best" tests is to see a doctor who can recognize the early signs of RA: synovitis of joints.
