There are many other options, steroids should only be used for flares, your rheumatologist remains your best resource as there are many variants of RA and a thorough discussion about risks and benefits of long term treatment should take place.

Rheumatoid arthritis is managed by a rheumatology specialist. There are multiple medications, other than steroids that are used to treat this and hopefully put it in remission. They commonly include a pill called methotrexate, and an IV infusion called Humira.
