My fiance was up all night with painful hiccups followed by water falling out of his mouth. it hasn't happened to him in about year before this.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hiccups are caused : by several entities. Most caused by the irritation of the vagus nerve or phrenic nerve( that with controls the diaphragm). This sometimes in turn is due to acid reflux, irritation of the ear drum, and if he is on hydromorphone , is he constipated? because that is also one of the primary reasons, If this persist, have him see is primary doctor for a thorough evaluation.
