Why do men develop a large belly as they get older?

Fat distribution: I don't think many of them are aware, but the fat distribution is rather predictable. Most understand that the belly wall contains some, since they loose their belly button in a deep pit. The other usual distribution is in packets of fat that cling to the inside of the belly, hanging off the tissue that lines the intestines. This pushes the belly wall forward.
