Depression: Emotional numbing can be a component of depression, or severe trauma. Numbing (lack of emotion) is a defensive suppression of emotion, not lack thereof. Other components of depression include blue mood, lethargy, anger, hopelessness, social isolating, and sleep/appetite disturbances.
