Do not ignore it: Any new growth is concerning and warrants attention. Leukoplakia, a white growth on the mucous membranes of the mouth and elsewhere, can be malignant or premalignant. Smokers and heavy drinkers are especially prone, but everyone should be alert to this issue. A check by a dentist, oral surgeon, or ENT specialist is definitely in order!
