Diagnosed already?: First you need to find out if you actually have NF1. Around 1 person in 3000 is so affected. The majority have no or minor problems. If you don't like the little bumps, you can have them lasered off as they form. You do need to be aware of the extra tumor risk and keep up surveillance, but most young adults with mild disease like you may have lead normal, happy lives.
