Depends.: Vertigo is a phantom sensation usually due to imbalance of the activity of the bilateral balance end organs of the inner ears. It can also be due to the brain failing to interpret signals properly. Vertigo can be curable but more often it is treatable or manageable. Sometimes it can't be helped at all. It really depends on the exact cause and severity.

Yes Real: Vertigo is very real. It is usually due to malfunction of the inner ear. Viral illness can produce vertigo which is self limiting. It goes away. . Meniere's Disease causes vertigo and is not curable but can be managed. It's cause is not clear. Vertigo can be central and due to brain disease. Anything from a stroke to a tumor.

Yes, Yes: There are several types of vertigo and many different causes of each. The sensation of being pulled in a direction or you or the room spinning constitutes true vertigo. In addition there are different types of dizziness without true vertigo. Once you sort out the type and get ast the cause there is almost always a treatment available.
