Up down Pain: Many times the cold sensitivity discomfort is from an upper or lower tooth, rarely both. If the upper tooth nerve is degrading it can cause inflammation between the tooth and the bone and extrude the tooth out of its socket. This can cause a "high" bite and make the opposing tooth sore. The muscles can also become sore in their effort to avoid having the two sore teeth touch during sleep

Rule Out TMJ: Some of the symptoms suggest a TMJ disorder. Pain near the ear when chewing? Jaw clicking? Have your dentist check your teeth. If negative ask him/her to palpate your TMJ. If positive, see a TMJ expert.
