2 year old: Hopefully this baby is being seen by a pediatrician or your family doctor. If not sure what is going on take them back and let them be seen again. Always better safe than sorry. Good luck.

Workup and treatment: The two infections may be unrelated in their underlying cause or caused by the same infection. Infection called sepsis is of concern at this age, and I would suggest a workup to include a CBC, diff, Urine analysis and culture and possibly a chest radiograph depending on additional history and physical examination. Sometimes infants may only have fever as a presenting finding with pneumonia.
