A member asked:

Is crepitus normal in foot extensor tendonitis? the pain is gone but i still feel a creaking grating sensation. how to get rid of it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Don't worry: Sometimes if there is irregularity of the surface of the tendon membrane it may not glide smoothly through its surrounding sheath. These vibrations result in the sound you can hear and feel called "crepitus". Painless crepitus is a common phenomenon that just about everybody will experience in life. If there are no signs of pain, redness or warmth it will not be harmful. Maybe annoying at worst .
