Achilles Tendinitis: It sounds like you injured the Achilles Tendon. Overuse causes microfiber damage that can cause chronic tendinitis. Achilles tendon tear cannot be ruled out. First treatment would be to rest, ice, elevate, and stabilize with brace or ace wrap. Also take Motrin 800mg or Aleve (naproxen) 400mg twice a day with meals for one week. Then do some passive streching. If the pain is not gone, see a Podiatist.

Can you stand & walk: on the left side? See your PCP for an exam and onward referral to an Orthopod, to help determine if its a simple strain or something more. Limit your activities till this is checked out, as you might do more harm to it. Good Luck.
