A member asked:

Can a yeast infection go to your kidneys? if so, what kind of illness can the kidneys get? can a yeast infection enter the blood stream?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yeast infection: Are you referring to female vaginal/genital yeast infection? And if it can spread to kidneys and blood? If yes, then your answer is no! vaginal yeast infection is a localized benign disease and does not spread! BUT kidneys and blood can get infected by fungal diseases rarely in immunocompromised patients or in patients with long term intravenous accesses/lines, or with long term Foley catheters!
