Very unusual: Usually only people who are immunocompromised (chemo therapy patients, for example) have blood borne yeast infections. The average person absolutely does not despite many online reports.

Comorbid conditions: Yeast infection in the blood or fungemia is most commonly cause by Candida. It is the 4th most common bloodstream infection among hospitalized patients in the United States. People at high risk for developing candidemia include: ICU patients, surgical patients, use of central venous catheters (esp. TPN), immune systems are weakened ( e.g. HIV/AIDS), and very low birth weight infants.
