A member asked:

Is there a relationship between gluten sensitivity and hypothyroidism?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Both are autoimmune disorders which means your body's own immune system attacks certain specific parts of your body. There has been shown a relationship between celiac disease (gluten sensitivity) and hashimoto's thyroid disease, type I diabetes and inflammatory bowel disease. The immune system is amazing and complex so there is probably a LOT still to be discovered.
