K: Since medications like I buproven can cause prolong bleeding I would advise you to ask your dentist if it ok to premedicate with it prior to the procedure.

Only if needed: Avoid chewing on that side for now specially hard foods,take Ibuprofen only if needed to comfort you tell the root canal appt.

It is good idea: To prevent potential inflammation caused by root canal therapy to take Aleve (naproxen) 220 mg 2T 2X/per day for 3-5 days. Good luck.

Can't hurt: Studies show that taking ibuprofen before your root canal really is beneficial for teeth with inflamed pulps. These are teeth sensitive to hot and cold and throb.
