More info needed: sharp, stinging pains in the feet and toes may signal a peripheral neuropathy. Common causes of peripheral neuropathy include diabetes and alcohol abuse. Your doctor can help sort this out and order appropriate tests.

Unlikely: Given that you had a recent injury, it is likely that that is the contributing factor such as disk sand musculoskeletal disease. Although diabetes is more common on overweight individuals, neuropathy in diabetes usually involves the hands and feet and does not tend to shoot from the back. It takes years for people with diabetes to get neuropathy, which is unlikely given your young age.
