Opiopid receptor: Suboxone, just like other opiates, can cause a change in opiate receptor physiology. Most opiates do this at the mu receptor whereas Suboxone also causes changes at the kappa opioid receptor. The change does not seem to be permanent and things can return to normal after a period of drug free interval which can vary between individuals.
