Could steroid eye drops be used to remove pterygium?

Pterygium & steroids: Pterygium is a very common, abnormal growth of the clear covering (conjunctiva) of the white part of the eye (sclera) over the cornea (window of the eye). If severe and causing discomfort or red, it can be removed with surgery. It is generally benign. It is due to excess sun/UV exposure usually. Steroids can help decrease inflammation but will not get rid/remove it. Only way to remove: surgery.
