It can: Take stool softeners, drink lots of fluid, sitz baths, fruits & vegetables. If not improved in 3-5 days, it may be a fissure caused by hard stool and straining. See you doctor.

Yes: after passing hard stool you may have torn the anal canal and a fissure formed. it may feel like a knife-like tearing pain followed by severe spasm lasting minute to hours. Get you non caffeine/non alcohol fluid up to 80-100oz per day, warm tub soaks 2-3 times per day and if not better in 2 weeks see a colon and rectal surgeon
