Neuropsychologists: In most states, licensure as a psychologist is minimal. Our professsional organizations generally have guidelines of graduate level training (either a major or minor in neuropsychology), supervised practicum experience, supervised neuropsychology initernship experience and now two years of post-doc neuropsychology training and supervision. Some senior neuropsychologists trained before the guides.

Special training: A licensed psychologist with additional specialized training in neuropsychology and neuropsych assessment. Usually includes graduate coursework and pre/post-doctoral fellowships in neuropsychology, in addition to having met requirements for being a licensed, practicing psychologist. Some neuropsychs were in practice since before requirements became standardized, but still had specialty training.
