Of course: Having teeth extracted along with your braces, can change your face, your speech and your breathing. Despite this, braces and extractions are still widely used because that is how the orthodontists were trained. Underlying support: The teeth help support the lips and cheeks. If the teeth are too protrusive which in extreme cases are commonly called "buck teeth" the facial profile is obviously effected in a less than complimentary manner. In many of these cases, in order to properly align the teeth in the most satisfactory manner, teeth may need to be extracted. An Orthodontic Specialist can analyze and treat accordingly.
