A member asked:

Will exalgo work better than oxycontin?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: on what is causing the pain, and the dose of either drug. In equivalent doses, all opioids work about the same, and differ mainly in side effects. Hydromorphone is much more potent than oxycodone, but that doesn't mean it is "better" or "stronger." 2 mg of hydrocodone is roughly equivalent to 10 mg of oxycodone when taken by mouth. Your pain specialist and pharmacist can better answer this.
