Not everyone: Not everyone with throat cancer needs a tracheostomy. One may need it If the cancer is advanced and causing breathing difficulties. If surgery is used to treat it, it may be needed to get through the procedure. Don't let the possibility of a tracheostomy stop you from getting proper treatment, though.
