A member asked:

What to do if i have very low cortisol blood levels but very high saliva, both the same day and time, why is that?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

CBG: Hi. There is a blood protein that binds cortisol called cortisol-binding globulin (CBG). Some people are genetically lacking CBG, so that large fraction of bound (kind of inert) cortisol is missing, and their cortisol blood levels are much lower. CBG does not go into saliva, but cortisol does. Without knowing more details, that could account for the differences.
