Assertiveness: training can be helpful. Books like "Don't say yes when you want to say no" and "Your perfect right" may be helpful, along w/the help of a mental health professional. You can do it. Peace and good health.

Confrontation: Seek a reputable psychotherapist to help deal with social fears, and the root of how your particular fear of confrontation began. I would suggest a psychodynamic psychotherapist.
