Simple answer - no: The statin drugs have now been used for indefinite periods in humans now for over 25 years and are incredibly safe and well tolerated without long term side effects. Muscle soreness can happen even after being on a statin for a long time, but almost never causes true medical harm. They are very safe and wonderful drugs that have prolonged countless lives and greatly improved quality of life.
