Yes: You can discuss these issues with the doctor who treats your lupus. You are not taking any specific meds that help, especially Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine). Are you seeing a rheumatologist?

Yes: Few options for u: 1) voltaren (diclofenac) gel prior to using bags, but u would need to wear gloves. 2) arthritis gloves-which. Provide some pressure support so the joints are not being manipulated as much. 3) ice u'r hands after u use the bag. Ideally within 20 minutes. Hope this helps some.
