Lupus: Skin abscesses are very rare in either disease. I have personally never seen them unless the patient was on immunosuppressive meds. That said, lupus would be more likely to have them.

Less common: Abscesses are uncommon with either. Workup for systemic infection, immunodeficiency and white cell function may be needed.
