Was mesh used?: Pain could be due to scarring alone or result of mesh being used from nerve or spermatic cord entrapment. Steroid injection is unlikely to harm so worth trying, you have very little to lose with large potential gain./ Alternatives are do nothing & live with it or surgical exploration to free nerve &/or spermatic cord.
