Try heat . ..: Several factors cause an IV site to hurt, Look for signs of redness which may indicate a localized infection of the vein. If a bruise is present ,the IV needle may have penetrated through the vessel .Occasionally the medication/fluid which was put in the IV many irritate the vessel's wall. Try warm compresses and if it persists seek medical attention.
