Appendix: If they are doing abdominal surgery for suspected appendicitis, and the appendix appears normal once the surgeon is inside, they will still take your appendix. That way you can NEVER get appendicitis again!

Depends. : Often a surgeon will take your appendix as part of an exploratory laparoscopy where he/ she looks for a cause. This prevents confusion in the future if your symptoms return. And sometimes patients feel better even though the appendix looks normal on pathology
