Very Common Problem: Low back pain is very common. The vast majority of the time it is caused by straining the muscles and other soft tissues in the low back. Reasons to be concerned include "Red Flags" such as fever, a personal history of cancer, loss of control over urination or bowel movements. If you have none of these you are likely to be better in less than a month. Anti-inflammatories are the usual treatment
