Adjusting to hormone: The Progesterone was likely given to you to regulate your periods but taking it can alter your cycle until your body adjusts to it. The idea is that it will regulate the lining of your uterus as well as cause it to shed at an appropriate time when you stop taking the pill. This may mean lighter periods.
