A member asked:

When should you seek medical help for asthma i have a 2 yer old and every night he coughs gets wheezy he has a puffer but don't know if that's enough?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See the doctor: If asthma symptoms (wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath) are happening more than 2 days a week, or more than 2 nights a month, a preventative asthma medication may be needed. The puffer/inhaler is a short term medication. Inhaled steroids (such as Flovent or as in Advair) can reduce the swelling in the lungs that is causing the symptoms. See you doctor to get better control of the asthma.
